ESI Organizes Shenzhen Hydrogen Tourist Coach Study Tour with Hong Kong Motor Transport Workers General Union

ESI, together with the Hong Kong Motor Transport Workers General Union, conducted a specialised study tour in Shenzhen to explore hydrogen powered tourists coaches and their applications in public transportation.

During the visit, participants examined the real-world operations of hydrogen-powered tourist coach, including vehicle performance, hydrogen refuelling systems, cabin design, passenger comfort, and overall configuration. They also engaged in in-depth discussions with local technical experts on hydrogen fuel cell technology, safety standards, and the future potential of hydrogen energy in green transportation.

Participants were given the opportunity to test ride the hydrogen buses, experiencing firsthand their comfort, driving stability, and low noise levels.

The study tour has provided valuable insights into the development of new energy transportation and will serve as an important reference for promoting sustainable and low-carbon mobility solutions going forward.

Hong Kong Motor Transport Workers General Union and Industry Representatives Visit Foshan to Explore Hydrogen Energy Industry

Industry representatives and the Hong Kong Motor Transport Workers General Union travelled to Foshan to gain in-depth insights into the development of new energy technologies. This visit was organised by ESI with assistance from several parties in the Foshan hydrogen industry. 

 

As a major showcase for the domestic hydrogen industry, the visits to the Nanhai Hydrogen Energy Centre and Hyden Hydrogen Refuelling Station provided members with a detailed overview of the entire supply chain, from production and storage to transportation and applications. Through professional briefings, members gained a better understanding of refuelling workflows and safety management protocols. The group also discussed the feasibility of popularising hydrogen infrastructure within urban public transport systems.

 

The itinerary concluded with a visit to Guangdong Horizon New Energy Technology Co., Ltd. Members not only inspected the technical production details of hydrogen-powered trucks but also participated in a hands-on test drive. During the trial, the delegation spoke highly of the trucks' high efficiency, low noise levels, and zero-emission characteristics.

 

This exchange facilitated a deeper understanding of the hydrogen industry, refuelling equipment operations, and commercial hydrogen fuel cell vehicle technology. It enables the Hong Kong industry to better grasp the latest developments in new energy transport, providing a valuable reference for promoting green transit and cross-border cooperation. Together, these efforts support the transport industry's transition toward a low-carbon future.

Dr Princeton Wong is a highly experienced senior financial executive in the Asia-Pacific region with over 25 years of industry experience. Prior to joining ESI, he held senior management positions at several top-tier investment and commercial banks. He has demonstrated exceptional leadership and strategic vision in corporate finance, investor relations, capital raising, and digital transformation. Beyond his profound theoretical expertise in finance, Dr. Wong possesses a rare combination of cross-disciplinary professional certifications, providing ESI with a comprehensive perspective on financial and asset management. His professional qualifications include: Finance & Accounting: Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA), Certified Financial Services Auditor (FRM), and Certified Public Accountant (CPA Australia), Real Estate & Surveying: Member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (MRICS) and Member of The Hong Kong Institute of Surveyors (MHKIS).

At the show, HYPERVIEW showcased its hydrogen vehicle technology achievements, giving visiting partners a direct and tangible look at the progress and application potential of hydrogen fuel cell vehicles. H2 Solution also took the opportunity to engage in in-depth conversations with industry players, gaining insight into the market's latest needs and interests around new energy transport solutions.

 

ESI sees active participation in industry exhibitions as an important way to broaden industry perspectives and strengthen partnerships. By appearing alongside HYPERVIEW, the company hopes to demonstrate the close collaboration between the two parties in hydrogen vehicle development, and to continue raising awareness of the opportunities that hydrogen transport presents for Hong Kong.

ESI leads dialogue between hydrogen operators and Government to Drive Hydrogen Vehicle Deployment in Hong Kong

ESI led a dialogue session bringing together hydrogen vehicle operators and government representatives to discuss the pathway to deploying hydrogen vehicles in Hong Kong.

 

The meeting focused on key issues including practical application scenarios for hydrogen vehicles in Hong Kong, supporting infrastructure requirements, policy coordination and approval processes. As the convener, ESI aimed to use this direct communication platform to help the government better understand the industry's real-world needs and operational challenges, while giving operators clearer insight into policy directions and available support measures.

 

Deploying hydrogen vehicles in Hong Kong involves multiple government departments and industry stakeholders, and effective progress requires close collaboration across the board. ESI believes that sustaining meaningful dialogue between government and industry is the key to moving hydrogen vehicles in Hong Kong from pilot trials towards actual commercial operation.

In February 2026, H2 Solution attended the "Green Hydrogen Standard Certification Scheme Briefing" organised by the Electrical and Mechanical Services Department (EMSD), joining government representatives and hydrogen industry peers to exchange views on the latest developments in Hong Kong's green hydrogen certification framework.

 

At the briefing, EMSD introduced the background, scope and assessment criteria of the green hydrogen certification scheme, providing clear compliance guidance for the industry. H2 Solution and other industry representatives actively shared views on practical considerations in standard-setting, the operability of the certification process, and how to ensure alignment with international standards — offering an industry perspective to help refine the scheme.

 

H2 Solution believes that establishing a clear green hydrogen standards and certification system is fundamental to building confidence in hydrogen applications among industry players and the public, and will help Hong Kong's hydrogen sector develop on a well-regulated and sustainable footing. The company will continue to monitor the progress of relevant standards development and actively participate in industry consultations.

H2 Solution met with a new energy battery swap technology provider and representatives from the taxi trade to exchange views on the future development of battery swap stations for commercial vehicles in Hong Kong, in support of the city’s broader green transport agenda.

In recent years, the Hong Kong SAR Government has continued to promote the transition to greener transport, encouraging the adoption of new energy solutions to reduce carbon emissions. As an innovative charging alternative for electric commercial vehicles, the battery swap model offers advantages such as rapid energy replenishment and improved operational efficiency, making it particularly suitable for high-frequency use cases such as taxis vehicles.

During the meeting, the parties discussed topics including the potential future deployment of battery swap stations in Hong Kong, possible operating models, and how the solution could be aligned with the daily operational needs of the local commercial vehicle sector. They also exchanged views on how cross-sector collaboration could help accelerate the transition of commercial vehicles toward cleaner energy.

H2 Solution remains actively engaged in the development of new energy power systems and battery swap infrastructure, and sees the battery swap model as one of the important options in Hong Kong’s commercial vehicle decarbonisation journey.
